Compact Elegant Bathroom

Here is a way to convert a small bathroom. Designed by Christopher Grubb, he changed a tiny bathroom into compact elegance by replacing a small window with glass doors and the tub with a glass enclosed shower. Also, by replacing an oversized sink with a modern metal one and tiling the entire bathroom with large tiles instead of many little ones.

Contemporary/Global funky space

This restaurant’s amazing use of color and faux textured walls creates a global bazaar meets contemporary art look. I love the paintings with metallic frames, it’s edgy. This space is very inspirational. For example, the sofa, one can add an artistic spin to a regular old futon by just putting a new futon cover or large tailored fabric with a rich color scheme over it. The foot rests in front of it look like old metal wine holders with a cushion over them. The metal frames with the mirrors are a nice look too but can be pretty pricey and so can the paintings. If you want to create a cost friendly pad, the only recommendation I would have is to make a painting yourself and instead of putting it on a $50 stretch canvas put it on a piece of plywood. Cheap, light and also adds an element of texture.

Modern Sleek City Living Room

Want a big city look? This modern living room is not only urbane but also practical. The shape of the futuristic styled furniture arrangement is also functional and although it may not seem so but comfortable. The fresh white wall color and ultramodern gray tiles give the room a crisp clean finish. The geometric form of the room adds to its sleek look. I love the recess lighting in this room. I believe this element creates the entire atmosphere in the room. Lighting and flooring are two basic essentials that ultimately fashions a room’s ambiance.

Artsy Apartment

If you live in an apartment and want to create an artsy yet clean contemporary feel to your living space, this is the way to go. Since most apartment complexes never return your safety deposits if you paint on the walls this is a safe way to avoid any conflicts. The track lighting is the single most important element in this room; it alone creates an artsy tone to the space. Lighting is the most efficient and inexpensive way to give your flair up your space. One can also make mismatched furniture look trendy with well balanced pieces. For example in this space, although the furniture is very different in color and material the sleek geometric shapes complement each other. Last but not least, unique paintings can be added to the walls in order to complete the transformation from boring traditional to trendy without damaging your rental.

Circular Track Lighting

This is another picture I came across. I just thought I’d put it up because I love the circular track lighting but don’t really care for the furniture in this picture, especially the square table with boxes as chairs. Whoever thought of that idea definitely did not take comfort into consideration. I mean what if you invite guests over? Are you really going to make them sit on a block of wood for a few hours? Honestly, you might as well make them sit on U-Haul’s cardboard moving boxes, it would probably feel the same but cost you a lot less!…Anyways…love the lighting!

Cozy Candles

This is a good idea if you living space has a traditional feel. This element of design adds a slight Italian impression in the residence. Candle holders such as these probably won’t make a wonderful addition to a contemporary or modern style living quarters but would make wonderful additions as bathroom accessories. These candles create a warm and relaxing atmosphere.

Contemporary Cubic Art

This contemporary work of art adds character to a modern and/or contemporary living space. I love this piece because of its 3 dimensional composition. Even though in stores this fine art would cost an arm and a leg. It can be easier created at home with just any contemporary print or a piece of art that you can find on http://www.google.com/ . The most cost efficient way is to use google, then just print out a few similar prints and cut them into even squares (4x4). The metal black fence like design can be found in the fencing material section of home depot or lowes. And then all you need is cardboard, a good pair of scissors, hot glue gun and you’re good to go. This piece is a must have in contemporary homes.
